Why should you use a Vertidrain

To understand why you need to use a vertidrain you first have to understand the way a pitch or course and its' drainage structure works. One aspect of this is air in the soil, or lack of air in the soil (which shows as poor growth and structure). The Vertidrain can help to alleviate growth problems by getting air to the root system.

Vertidraining is not for the unknowledgeable as more damage can be done than good if carried out at the wrong time or in the wrong conditions, aeration is not just making a hole in the soil and hoping for everything to turns out right, everything has to be planned to meet requirements. That's where CGCS can help you.

The 1.6m Vertidrain machine uses tines (which are either solid or hollow, depending on the soil conditions and time of year) to penetrate the soil. The Vertidrain is designed to de-compact soil on sports pitches/courses once or twice per year.

Equally spaced holes of 19mm diameter and up to 300mm deep provide a surface which allows water and air to disperse to the grass roots a lot easier.

Aeration needs to be carefully planned and implemented to give the best results in the long term.
